Belinda Allitt

The Growth Industry - coming together for impact

With over 20 years’ experience in communications, marketing, public relations, brand, stakeholder and community engagement, Belinda connects her knowledge and experience to building a better Australian agricultural industry. Belinda grew up on a rice and sheep property in Deniliquin, southern NSW and now farms a small mixed farming enterprise north-west of Wagga Wagga with her husband and three kids. Belinda is responsible for leading the Levied and Emerging Industries and Rural Futures functions at AgriFutures and has formerly managed the Workforce, Capacity Building, Adoption and AgriFood Innovation functions such as the evokeAG. event that brings together the agricultural innovation ecosystem from around the world. Belinda is passionate about ensure Australian agriculture is ahead of trends and maximising the opportunities we hold as a sector as well as future-proofing against the challenges. Belinda is also on a mission to attract new and capable people into careers in agriculture, building the capability of future rural leaders, supporting change makers and driving thought leadership through exciting brands and programs.

Jen Grigg

Worksafe (Vic)
Safer Equipment for Safer Farms

Jen is currently Programs Manager – Agriculture at WorkSafe Victoria. This role is about developing and implementing strategic prevention programs to address the number of fatalities and serious injuries related to Agriculture. She is a Churchill Fellow with a research focus on cooperatives for rural development and presented on farm safety at the 2024 World Health and Safety Congress. Jen was an active partner of a family grain and sheep property at Patchewollock in the Victorian Mallee and including a trucking and grain trading business. She chaired the Victorian Women in Grains Group to encourage acknowledgement, education and active participation of farming women in the grains industry. Jen is an experienced Board Director of rural water and waste authorities and past Chair of Regional Leadership Australia and Mildura Development Corporation. She was also an Executive Director at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE responsible for Business Development including client management of a number of large horticulture enterprises, regional campuses and International Education.  

Prof. Sigfredo Fuentes

Melbourne University Revolutionising Agriculture: AI-Driven Innovations for Earth and Space Digital Farming

With AI technology and autonomous vehicles at the industry’s doorstep, Dr. Sigfredo Fuentes will present an overview on how the introduction of these machines affects the industry and how farm machinery dealerships should prepare for their imminent arrival. Dr. Sigfredo Fuentes is a Distinguished Professor within the Faculty of Excellence, Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico, and an Associate Professor in Digital Agriculture, Food and Wine Sciences (DAFW) at the School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences (SAFES) in the Faculty of Science, University of Melbourne, Australia. He’s a Chief Investigator in the Australian Research Council – awarded Centre of Excellence (2023-2030) in Plants for Space (CoE-P4S). 

Justin Smirk

Economic Update

Justin’s annual presentation at the TMA conference is one of the most popular each year. His economic update provides a unique insight and forecast for businesses in our industry. Justin Smirk has over 20 years experience in Financial Markets. He joined Westpac in 1999 following his early training at the Reserve Bank of Australia. He has spent time in Westpac’s London office and has had a secondment as Chief Economist at St George Bank. Justin’s areas of interest are the international economy, commodity markets and the resources sector. He also analyses the Australia labour market and prices. His specialities include commodities, labour market, wages, inflation, monetary policy and foreign exchange.

Matt Hobbs

Matt Hobbs is the CEO of the MTAA. He was formerly Director, Policy and Advocacy at the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, and has a breadth of experience in the automotive industry, including filling senior executive roles in GM Holden, and with General Motors and Nissan Motors internationally. Matt has a record of leading successful government relations campaigns and supporting leadership to develop corporate strategies that impact the bottom line. His experience includes securing substantial government incentives, developing restructuring plans, asset disposal, business savings, and obtaining favourable industry, trade and regulatory settings. voice.

The State of the Industry report was another highlight of the 2023 conference and Kynetec’s Melinda Haley returns with this year’s report for the industry. Tom Elliott is an Australian radio and television personality, who is also known for his work in the finance sector. Elliott is best known for his radio work at Melbourne radio station 3AW where he is host of 3AW’s Mornings program. Previously he was host of the 3AW Drive program for a decade from 2013 until 2023.
