Vin Rowe Farm Machinery was founded in 1961 as the Warragul branch for a large David Brown tractor dealer in Sale. In 1971 the business was acquired by the founder Vin Rowe and the company became known as Vin Rowe Pty Ltd.
In the ensuing years the company became a New Holland dealer and was also a Nissan motor car dealer. With the reduction in milk contracts in the late 70s Vin saw a need to diversify into other areas. Around this time vegetable growing was becoming more prominent on the Mornington Peninsula and the company sought out distribution arrangements with various European manufacturers of planting and harvesting machinery. This side of the business has grown throughout the years and the company is now regarded as one of the leaders in the sector.
Since the 1980s the company has represented a number of other companies either as an importer or as a local retailer. As is the norm in our industry Vin Rowe has been on both sides of overseas manufacturer acquisitions and have gained and lost agencies as a result.
From 1985 to 2011 the company acted as Kuhn SA’s whole goods warehouse – providing logistical support as well as being importer for Kuhn parts in our own right. Following Kuhn setting up its own premises in Melbourne this arrangement ended, however Vin Rowe continues to be a Kuhn retail dealer.
The company has been a Kubota dealer since 2008 which has been an important addition to our local retail business. We have recently become importer and distributor for Italian power harrow and rotary hoe manufacturer Valentini. The company continues to be an importer of vegetable and other machinery and is always looking at new opportunities.
