Another down month for Tractor sales in July

July has been another difficult month for tractor sales with around 600 machines sold. This was 15% down on the same month last year and is now down 11% on a year-to-date basis.

Whilst July is typically a lower month following and end of financial year bump, it is clear that a return to positive territory remains some months off.

All states reported declines in the month except for WA and, all machine reporting categories were down.

As we are now past the halfway mark of the year there appears the very real prospect that total sales of under 9,000 units is likely for the full year. This would  be the lowest reported level in the last fifteen years.

In other machinery categories, Combine Harvesters saw 20 units sold bring the year-to-date figure to a level 50% down on the same time last year. Clearly, it looks like being a tough year for Combines also.

Baler sales were well down this month by 30.8% and are now 11.6% up year to date.

Sales of Out-Front Mowers were up again and are now 5% ahead YTD and finally, sales of Self-Propelled (SP) Sprayers  reported a strong lift, up 29.6% compared to July last year.

The Annual TMA Conference was in Sydney on July 29th , copies of presentations are available on the TMA website.
