Tractor and machinery stalwart Ian O’Rourke will hit the milestone age of 90 on August 6.
Ian is well known for writing his memoir – a look at his life starting as a boy from a soldier settler farm in outback New South Wales dreaming of escaping the uncertainty of a drought-susceptible irrigation region and making his own way in the world.
After a stint in the army and securing a job with the Massey Ferguson test team, Ian made it to the top of the Australian tractor and machinery industry as National Service Manager for Ford Tractors. It was one of the most rapidly changing periods in mechanised agriculture and follows Ford’s desire to dominate the market. Not only is this story educational, Ian’s light touch and humour makes it one very entertaining book.
The book is available for $40.00 + p&h by contacting him by emailing him at ian.gwennie@gmail.com.
We wish Ian a very happy birthday for the 6th.
