Large tractors in the 200Hp plus range have again led the way in February increasing 22.5% on the same month last year. This has been offset somewhat by the decline in smaller unit sales resulting in an overall drop of 6.6% compared to February last year.
With just on 700 tractors sold in the month, hopes of improvement appear to be some months away yet. Whilst unit sales are down, the retail turnover figure, the actual dollars transacted, is 18% up on the same time last year which represents the current mix of sales.

Tractor sales in detail

Tractor Sales across the globe are struggling as increased manufacturing costs continue to weigh on demand. Here in Australia, this has been further exacerbated by the challenging climate with some areas, particularly in the south of the country, in severe drought whilst some in the north are experiencing high seasonal rains. Recent forecast reports from the likes of John Deere and Case New Holland in the US are pointing to being either at or near the bottom of the cycle so 2026 will remain a challenge.
Combine Harvesters were minimal this month and Baler sales have taken a breather from a recent run of big months, down 18% on the month but still 24% ahead of last year on a year-to-date basis.
Sales of Out-Front Mowers were 7% ahead and finally, sales of Self-Propelled (SP) Sprayers were down 4% compared to February last year.
