Purpose
Through the provision of funds to a student/graduate, and subsequent exposure to management level industry participants, the purpose of the scholarship is to highlight the career opportunities within the farm machinery sector in Australia.
John Ciavarella worked in the Ag industry for many years, and firmly believed that everyone deserved the opportunity to succeed. His commitment, dedication and inclusion of fellow workers got the best out of everyone. He always fought to achieve the best for his clients and customers. A true friend and mentor to many. The scholarship which is co funded by the TMA and Macdon is named in his honour.
Eligibility
Any student currently enrolled in an Australian based agribusiness related degree or diploma, and/or any current student enrolled in a non-agribusiness course and can demonstrate an interest and passion for agribusiness and/or the farm machinery sector.
Application Format
Applicants are invited to address the topic by written submission and may address the topic in whatever practical, theoretic or creative way as they see fit.
Topic
- Applicants will be asked to address a simple question – How can Agricultural Machinery be used in a practical way to increase sustainability in farm production? Included in the response will be the need to address the following key values;
Customer Focus - Practical /Forward Thinking
- Socially Conscious
- Creating Opportunity for Others.
Assessment
Rimfire Resources will receive and review applications and provide a long list of applications for the TMA board and Macdon to decide on the finalists.
Finalists (no more than 4) would be invited (either in person or virtually if required) to present to the board of the TMA at their annual conference in Melbourne on July 20. Finalists will be asked to give a short presentation (10 Minutes + questions) on their proposed project/idea.
The winner will be selected and announced with associated media at the end of the conference.

Applications are to be emailed to ncrawley@rimfireresources.com.au. Applications are to be in word or PDF Format only and must not exceed 3 A4 pages in length, Minimum font size 11. All applications will be acknowledged by receipt of email and all applicants will receive notification of their success once finalists are selected on June 1 2022.
